My Haunted Classroom

I think my classroom might be haunted.  Seriously.

I’m not usually one to get caught up in the paranormal.  Maybe it’s just Halloween excitement.  Still, some things have happened that I can’t explain.

This year, I teach in four different high school classrooms.  It’s the Spanish room that has me puzzled.  The student who sits closest to the door keeps hearing light knocks.  I heard it today, too.  But when he opens the door, no one is ever there.  (Insert Twilight Zone theme song: doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo)

The other week, the door quietly opened while I was teaching.  No biggie, I just walked over to close it.  But how did it open?  Again, no one was in sight.  I experimented, but the door wouldn’t stay closed at all without being firmly latched.  And it was locked.  (Cue eerie music.)

I mentioned the weirdness to a colleague, and that’s when I heard about the worker who died during construction of the theater several years ago.  There have been rumors that it’s haunted.  Wouldn’t you know it, my classroom is right next to the theater.

What do you think?  A real haunting?  Teenagers messing with me?  An overactive imagination?  Or did I upset a spirit by speaking French in the Spanish hall?
