English language learners will enjoy discovering the American Thanksgiving celebration with a special Foreign Language House holiday download. You’ll find an engaging story, vocabulary games, songs, coloring pages, and basic writing activities. We’ve taken our popular “A Dinner at Plymouth Rock” story about Jane the Pilgrim, Running Strong the Native American, and Tom the Turkey, and customized it for 3rd – 6th grade English language learners. Another great Thanksgiving resource for ESL is the Charles Schulz classic–A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Talk about American culture! As a child of the 70′s, this cartoon was as much a part of my holiday as turkey, parades, and football. Linus’ telling of the Thanksgiving story is an enjoyable history lesson. And who can forget the Thanksgiving dinner of popcorn and jelly beans? Great music, too. Enjoy!
