t kids, my little guys can’t wait for Santa Claus to come down the chimney with lots of presents. That’s all fine and good, but I want my children to understand what Christmas is really all about. One year, Santa brought a Fisher Price Little People Christmas Story Nativitythat we put up under the “kid tree” in the play room every year. The kids move the people and animals around as I tell them the real story of the first Christmas.
It got me thinking. Since the best way to learn a language is in context—especially the context of stories—what stories could possibly be more important than those from the Bible?
We are very pleased to offer our first Bible-themed download from Foreign Language House. Le Premier Noel (The First Christmas) is just the kind of language activity I want to do with my own boys this time of year. Read the description to learn more:
Beginning French learners of all ages will develop language skills while reading the story of Jesus’ birth. Color the pictures, cut on the dotted lines, and staple along the left margin to make your own 14-page Christmas story/picture book. The “Premier Noel – First Christmas” story follows the Biblical accounts of Luke and Matthew, but in simple, present tense sentences that novice-level language learners can easily understand. Along with your coloring book, you will also receive a bilingual vocabulary list, manger animal flash cards, teaching tips, text in both English and French, a fill-in-the blank exercise, comprehension questions, an activity page, and five Christmas carol coloring pages. This Christmas, share your faith and teach language at the same time. This download is ideal for use at home, in Sunday School, or as a part of a Christian or parochial education. (21 pages)
