Super Bowl Activities for French and Spanish Learners
Are you ready for the Big Game? I love the excitement of Super Bowl Sunday: the food, the friends, the commercials . . . oh, yeah . . . and maybe the game, too. I suppose I leave a little something to be desired as a football fan. Still, the Super Bowl is a great language-learning theme to motivate some otherwise hard to reach kids. Foreign Language House has some football themed downloads that are perfect for pre- and post-game lessons.
Super Bowl Spanish Numbers Activities Here is a way to connect Spanish numbers with a relevant student topic. Super Bowl 43 is almost here, and students will love using Spanish numbers with the activities in this collection. Included are a bilingual Super Bowl vocabulary list, Spanish numbers-in-words 0-100, Spanish mini-readings, 20 Spanish questions on the reading, and a mini-project. (Grades 5-12) Also available outside the U.S. here.
Spanish Super Bowl Early Elementary Activities and Super Bowl in French: Words and Coloring for Young Children Young learners will discover a few Spanish/French sports words, team colors, and player numbers. Two coloring pages and a counting worksheet round out this fun mini-unit. (Pre-K – Grade 2)
Super Bowl in French: Numbers and Spelling Listening Activity Football fans and beginners of all ages will enjoy this listening comprehension activity. The teacher reads the French script, spelling players’ names and identifying their numbers. The students use their worksheet to record the name and number on each jersey. Extend the activity by reviewing team colors in French and asking younger learners to color the players’ uniforms. Use this listening exercise for either practice or assessment. Just right for elementary, middle school, or even as a quick little review in high school. (Grades 3-12)
