Cajun Music for Kids

Happy Mardi Gras!  I usually make quite the to-do about this holiday in my French classes.  In the past, my students have made gumbo, decorated masks, and danced to Cajun music.  Mardi Gras seems to have snuck up on me this year.  I’m fighting the flu, so food was out of the question!  Instead, I wrote a story about an alligator who travels to New Orleans for the festivities.  My students learned about the Mardi Gras colors, parades, costumes, balls, jambalaya, King Cake, and more.  After reading the story, they donned beads and wrote a postcard in French about an imaginary trip to a Louisiana Mardi Gras.  Heads were bopping to the sounds of Cajun music while they worked.  I hope you enjoy some of my favorites:
