We have the French to thank for April Fool’s Day! In France, it’s called April FISH Day, or le poisson d’avril. French children make paper fish and try to tape them to the backs of unsuspecting friends. Here’s a simple song and finger play I created to teach children about this funny custom:
Le poisson d’avril,
Le poisson d’avril,
Collé dans le dos, dos, dos,
Le poisson d’avril,
Le poisson d’avril,
Comme c’est rigolo-o-o!
Check out this poisson d’avril classroom packet for novice-level French learners. There are activities for a wide range of ages. Le Poisson d’Avril: April Fool’s Day Activities for Novice-Level French Learners

Thanks for the new song. I’ll sing it with my class on Fri. 4/1. I sub. I’m retired and bring music to classrooms. They have none now in CA. With older kids I do “Loof Lirpa” the famous “Swedish Scientist”.
